Our Mission

NMFC Codes was created to provide logistics professionals, shippers, and freight brokers with instant, accurate access to National Motor Freight Classification codes. We believe that proper freight classification shouldn't require expensive subscriptions or hours of manual research.

Our mission is to make NMFC code lookup accessible, accurate, and easy to use—helping businesses avoid costly reclassification fees and ensure efficient freight shipping operations.

What We Do

Comprehensive Database

We maintain a database of 6,609+ NMFC articles across 21 categories, covering the full spectrum of freight commodities from agricultural products to vehicles and machinery.

Regular Updates

Our team reviews and updates the database quarterly to reflect changes published by the National Motor Freight Traffic Association (NMFTA), ensuring you always have access to current classifications.

Easy Search

Search by Article ID for quick lookups or use keyword search to find classifications by commodity description. Our interface is designed for speed and efficiency.

Free Access

We believe essential freight classification information should be freely available to all logistics professionals. No subscriptions, no paywalls—just instant access when you need it.

Our Team

Our Commitment to Accuracy

Data Sources: All NMFC codes are sourced directly from National Motor Freight Traffic Association (NMFTA) official publications and tariff supplements. We do not interpret or modify classifications—we present them exactly as published by NMFTA.

Verification Process: Every entry in our database is cross-referenced with official NMFTA classifications. Our team conducts quarterly audits to identify and correct any discrepancies.

Update Schedule: We review NMFTA publications quarterly and update our database within 30 days of official changes. Last updated: April 2025. Next scheduled update: April 2026.

Error Reporting: Found an error? We investigate all reported discrepancies within 48 hours. Report an error.
