1. List on the BOL as “Guards, manhole, KD flat — NMFC 105480 — Class 70” to avoid reclass and speed up carrier rating.
2. Bundle guards flat with edge protectors and banding; strap to a 48x40 pallet with no overhang. Example: alternate fiberboard sheets between 10–12 guards for scratch protection.
3. Cap or tape sharp corners, then stretch-wrap and cross-band. Add anti-slip mats or wood dunnage under bundles to prevent sliding in LTL transit.
