How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- List NMFC 108030 and “kits in boxes” on the BOL to prevent reclass during inspection.
- Use sturdy cartons with internal dividers or foam for brackets, circuit boards, cables, and trays; seal and label each box as a kit.
- Palletize multiple boxes from one kit, shrink-wrap and band to keep components together and reduce loss or damage.
- Review related Notes (items 108032 and 108034) if shipping complete machines or loose parts to confirm this kit classification applies.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
Business Value
- Predictable Class 100 rating simplifies LTL quotes and rate shopping without density calculations.
- Non-hazardous status avoids hazmat surcharges and streamlines carrier selection and routing.

- Accurate NMFC use minimizes reclass fees, inspections, and delivery delays, improving total landed cost.
