How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Rate and book using NMFC 116230, Class 100 for boxed ticket issuing machines; list carton count and note non-hazardous to avoid reclass delays.
- Box with double-wall cartons and foam-in-place or dense EPE around screens, printers, and PCBAs; add anti-static bags and desiccant for moisture control.
- For LTL, palletize cartons on a 4-way pallet, add corner boards, band and stretch-wrap; mark Fragile, Do Not Tilt, and Top Load Only for display-equipped units.
- Split accessories by bagging cables, paper rolls, and card readers; include a packing list mapping kiosk heads vs. power modules and photograph internals before sealing.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
Business Value
- Predictable costs: fixed Class 100 eliminates density disputes, cutting reclass fees and invoice surprises.
- Operational speed: one code for kiosks and components streamlines multi-site deployments, RMAs, and returns.
- Lower damage rates: ESD-safe, shock-focused boxing reduces claims on printers, touchscreens, and payment modules.
- Broader carrier access: non-hazardous status expands LTL options and shortens tender-to-pickup timelines.
