How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Palletize or crate rams to stop rolling; block the cylinder body, band securely, and mark orientation so rod ends remain protected.
- Cap and plug all hydraulic ports and threads, drain residual oil, and poly-bag the unit to prevent dust ingress and staining.
- Use rigid packaging with corner guards; avoid strapping directly over the rod or seals; provide fork clearance or lift points for safe handling.
- Print NMFC 128160 and Class 85 on the BOL and labels; photograph packaging before tender to document condition and blocking.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
