How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Print NMFC 129340 and Class 100 on the BOL so carriers rate it correctly without density calculations.
- Package in sturdy boxes or wooden crates; immobilize coin hoppers and bill validators, lock service doors, and pad screens or bezels to prevent shock damage.
- Use tilt and shock indicators, mark This Side Up, and design crates with 4‑way forklift entry to protect sensitive payment mechanisms.
- Empty all coins/currency and disconnect any power supplies before packing; photograph the unit’s condition and note serials for claim protection.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
Business Value
- Fixed Class 100 removes density disputes, reducing reweigh/reclass fees and speeding up LTL quoting.
- Boxed/crated requirement cuts in-transit damage to coin mechs and bill acceptors, lowering claim costs and downtime.
- Clear NMFC alignment streamlines carrier acceptance and shortens dock time for vending, parking, and amusement service providers.
- Predictable pricing helps budget replacement or redeployment of pay stations and kiosks across multiple sites.
