How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Bill under NMFC 133770 at Class 100 for pallet dollies without standing ends or sides, and note that units are shipped in packages (cartons, crates, or strapped bundles).
- Immobilize casters before packaging: lock or strap wheels, add blocking or chocks, and overwrap with stretch film so rolling parts cannot shift during LTL handling.
- Protect magnesium/alloy frames with edge guards and fiberboard or foam between metal contact points; use banding over protective corners to prevent abrasion.
- Palletize packaged units with a rigid base (plywood or skid runners) and use at least two bands in each direction; provide overall dims and weight for quoting even though class is fixed.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
