Notes

How to Determine Your Class

To find the correct freight class for your shipment:

  1. Select “Amusement Ride, NOI” when rating and keep Class 150; note whether the unit includes operating machinery or loose parts, and check related NMFC notes 147022/147024 for named exceptions.
  2. Package mixed materials smartly: crate fiberglass car bodies with foam and skids, palletize control cabinets, band and block steel track sections, and use edge protectors and stretch-wrap to prevent scuffing.
  3. Prepare equipment for transport: disconnect power, secure wiring and sensors, drain residual fluids if present, collapse or remove protrusions, and tag items as non-operational to avoid carrier handling issues.
  4. Plan site logistics typical to parks and fairs: request liftgate or flatbed with tarping if docks aren’t available, share accurate weights and overall dimensions for capacity planning even though class is fixed.

Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.

Business Value

  • Predictable pricing from a fixed Class 150 eliminates density disputes and reduces reclass or inspection fees.
  • Faster quotes and booking because no density calculation is required; teams can lock rates and schedule sooner.
  • Proper crating and unitization lowers damage risk to high-value ride parts, cutting claim costs and downtime.
  • Clear packaging and consolidated pieces improve forklift handling, trimming accessorials and minimizing extra touches.
