Note 147222: NOTE-Applies only on outfits consisting of air compressor tanks, cement, paint, plaster, grease or fuel tanks; and cement, paint, plaster or grease guns; with or without equipment of gauges, hose, nozzles, air compressors or motors.
How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Verify it qualifies as a mounted outfit per Note 147222; list NMFC 147220, Class 150 on the BOL for the truck or trailer.
- Drain and purge lines (cement slurry, paint, plaster mix, grease) and cap ports; secure booms, wands, reels, and hoses against movement.
- No density rating applies; provide overall dimensions and axle/total weights only for carrier equipment planning and routing.
- Choose the move type: driveaway for powered trucks, or flatbed/step‑deck for trailers; note any residual fuel or batteries even though it’s non‑hazardous.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
Business Value
- Predictable pricing with fixed Class 150—easier budgeting for contractors, municipal fleets, and rental yards.
- Reduced reclass risk since density and packaging do not change the class when declared as a mounted sprayer outfit.
- Single listing covers cement, paint, plaster, and grease units, eliminating multiple NMFC lookups for similar rigs.
- Faster quotes and clearer claims handling thanks to a non‑hazardous, article‑specific classification.
