Note 148142: NOTE-Outfit consists of one or more cylinders of carbon dioxide with hose and gauge attachment, in boxes.

To find the correct freight class for your shipment:

1. State on the BOL: “Tire inflating device, with/without gauge,” include NMFC 148140, material (steel/aluminum/plastic), and whether manual or pneumatic to avoid reclass.
2. Box each unit in sturdy corrugated with pads around the gauge face and hose; cap threaded fittings. For pallets, use edge protectors and stretch wrap with no overhang.
3. Provide carton count, weight, and dimensions for density rating (e.g., 6 units/case, 24x16x12 in, 28 lb). Face barcodes outward and keep gauges facing up.
4. For retail/OEM kits, bag small adapters and needles. Ship without CO2 cartridges or batteries to maintain non-hazardous status; otherwise regulatory rules may change.
