How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Choose the correct class within 70–85 based on the NMFC note for boxed Petroleum Xylol, and confirm with your carrier before tendering.
- Use leak-tight inner containers and line cartons with poly bags or absorbent pads to prevent odor or seepage during transit.
- Palletize cartons with no overhang, add corner boards, and stretch-wrap tightly; mark orientation and “Do Not Drop” to reduce claims.
- Write the BOL as: “Petroleum Xylol, NMFC 155480, Class [70–85], packed in boxes,” and include carton count and pallet details.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
