To find the correct freight class for your shipment:

1. Drain and dry hose before packing; cap or bag couplings, then coil tightly on a reel or roll in layered bundles. Use polyester banding with edge protectors to prevent jacket damage.
2. Palletize reels or rolled bundles on a sturdy 48x40 pallet. Add chocks or cribbing so coils cannot roll, then stretch-wrap and cross-strap to keep the center of gravity low.
3. For two-wheeled carts, immobilize wheels, secure the handle to the frame, and strap the cart to a pallet. Box loose nozzles or adapters and strap that box to the skid.
4. List on paperwork as “Firefighting Hose, with or without two-wheeled carts — NMFC 169090.” Provide piece counts, pallet dimensions, and note non-hazardous for faster LTL quotes.
