NMFC 176965: Water-Soluble Leather Softeners | Class 55

To find the correct freight class for your shipment:

1. List on the BOL as “Softeners, leather, water soluble, in drums — NMFC 176965, Class 55” to prevent reclass fees and speed carrier acceptance.
2. Palletize drums upright with 4-way entry pallets; use drum rings or chocks, two straps in each direction, and full stretch wrap to contain load shift.
3. Protect from freezing during cold routes; request temperature protection if lanes may drop below 40°F/5°C to preserve product integrity.
4. Check bungs and vents for tight seal, add absorbent pads under each drum, and mark “Liquid—Do Not Stack” or use drum cones for plastic drums.
