How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Use sturdy corrugated cartons with inner poly bags to shield fabric labels from moisture; add paper interleaves for zinc-backed tags to prevent scuffing.
- Keep cartons square and not overfilled so they stack cleanly at Class 85; example: pack rolls or stacks with chipboard dividers to stop edge crush.
- Print “Labels—Do Not Bend” and include SKU counts on the outer box to speed receiving at print shops, apparel facilities, and fulfillment centers.
- Palletize in flat layers with cap sheets and stretch wrap; keep zinc components off wet pallets to avoid corrosion and staining.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.

- Non-hazardous designation avoids hazmat fees and shortens carrier onboarding and paperwork.
- Clear NMFC reference simplifies TMS setup and rate shopping for printers, converters, and apparel brands.
- Damage reduction from correct boxing lowers claim exposure on high-volume promotional and retail programs.
