How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Band single drivers to a small skid or cartonize with double‑wall and foam blocks; cap both tube ends to prevent punctures.
- For multiple units, nest upright on a pallet with edge protectors, add anti-roll chocks, then steel- or poly-band in two directions.
- Mark the center of gravity and total weight—post drivers are top‑heavy and can tip if not blocked.
- Print the BOL with NMFC 184415, Class 65, and piece count; label each handling unit for quicker cross‑dock moves.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
Business Value
- Fixed Class 65 delivers predictable LTL quotes for post driver shipments of varying sizes.
- Non-hazardous tool classification speeds carrier acceptance and avoids hazmat fees or paperwork.
- Correct NMFC on the BOL reduces reclass bills and inspection delays, protecting margins on tight project timelines.
- Bundling drivers on a single pallet lowers handling unit counts, cutting risk of loss and minimizing accessorials.
