How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Pack each vault in a sturdy double-wall box with foam-in-place, molded inserts, or dense bubble wrap; protect corners and lids and fill all voids.
- Mark cartons clearly: Fragile, This Side Up, and Empty Urn Vault to prevent confusion and ensure proper handling and orientation.
- When shipping multiples, palletize on a 48x40 pallet with no overhang; add edge boards, two straps, and tight stretch wrap to stabilize the load.
- On the BOL, list Urn-Vaults, cultured marble, in boxes - NMFC 188230, Class 70; density is not required, but weigh each carton or pallet accurately.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
