How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Palletize upright and immobilize the wheels with chocks or blocks; strap the handle and body at two points and add slip-sheets if nesting units.
- Protect fiberboard panels using corner/edge guards and tight stretch wrap; add a poly liner or moisture barrier for humid or wet lanes.
- On the BOL, note materials: “fiberboard body with veneer/plywood/sheet metal” and reference NMFC 189700; mark Do Not Stack where applicable.
- For mixed freight or high-touch terminals, enclose with a lightweight crate or full corrugated box and zip‑tie casters to prevent spin-through wrap.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
