How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Box each baptistry with rigid foam, corner guards, and interior bracing to prevent wall flex; strap the boxed unit to a pallet for handling and mark Do Not Stack.
- Protect drain fittings, heater cut-outs, and rims with padding and caps; overwrap in stretch film so hardware cannot shift during transit.
- Schedule the right accessorials for churches or construction sites—limited access, liftgate, and delivery appointment—because pieces are large but lightweight.
- Note NMFC 21470, Class 400, non-hazardous on the BOL; add tilt and impact indicators and list exterior dimensions for any oversize or length review.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
Business Value
- Accurate Class 400 designation reduces reclass disputes and unexpected invoice adjustments.
- Non-hazardous plastic status broadens carrier options and speeds up tendering.
- Robust packaging guidance lowers damage risk on high-value tubs, cutting claims and reship costs.
- Proactive accessorials and dimensional details prevent redeliveries, OS&D fees, and installation delays at worship facilities.
