1. Reference NMFC 27640 on the BOL and describe as “Superheaters, other than locomotive,” noting material (carbon or stainless) and packaging type (crated or skidded).
2. Cap and plug all tube ends, add edge guards, and block coils in saddles or V‑cradles on a heavy skid; label no‑fork zones to prevent tine damage.
3. Control corrosion and moisture: apply light oil where permitted, wrap with VCI, and add desiccant; shrink or stretch wrap to keep road grime off the tube bundle.
4. Provide precise dims and weight for each piece; example: 72 x 40 x 38 in on a 2,000 lb-rated skid, 1,180 lb gross. Include lift points or rigging instructions on the crate.
