Notes
Note 27997: NOTE-The depth measurement refers to the measurement from the back of the booth to the front of the booth and does not include any post or pedestal measurement.
How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Remove bulbs and any glass or plastic inserts, cushion separately, and label the inner carton Fragile—Inserts to prevent point-load cracks.
- Palletize wall or post enclosures vertically with flanges facing inward; add V-boards and 2x2 blocking to prevent lip deformation during transit.
- For pedestal housings with canopies or caps, provide top clearance and use corner posts so stretch wrap and stacking pressure do not crush the canopy.
- If units include backboards or panels, interleave foam or corrugated sheets between layers and secure with two bands and edge protection.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.

- Non-hazardous status simplifies routing and avoids hazmat surcharges, lowering total shipping cost.
- Citing NMFC 27995 for metal wall, post, or pedestal enclosures reduces reclass risk and surprise fees.
- Protecting inserts and canopies cuts concealed damage, speeding claims resolution and preserving customer SLAs.
- Uniform pallets with no overhang improve trailer cube and can unlock better LTL rates through efficient load planning.
