How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Bundle long ridge roll sections with edge guards and end caps, then strap to a skid; add VCI paper for galvanized/tin plate to prevent moisture staining.
- Disclose true length and request long-freight handling if over 8–12 ft; expect overlength fees and avoid cantilevered overhang during pickup.
- Nest profiles face-to-face to reduce denting, and block with wood cradles so pieces do not roll; mark Do Not Stack over delicate finishes.
- On paperwork, cite NMFC 36970 and Note item 35932, list material (iron, steel, or tin plate), bundle count, dimensions, and accurate weight for rating.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
