NMFC 50242 Modeling Compound, Plaster & Cloth – Class 70

Note 50243: NOTE-Applies only on compounds containing not less than 90 percent by weight of plaster of Paris.

To find the correct freight class for your shipment:

1. List as “Modeling Compounds, NOI—plaster of Paris and cloth combined” on the BOL, include NMFC 50242 and Class 70, and note packaging as boxed.
2. Protect from moisture and sifting: line each box with a poly bag or inner wrap, then seal seams with filament tape to prevent powder escape.
3. Palletize with flat, sturdy sheets top and bottom; avoid over-stacking as plaster-based contents can crush and settle under load.
4. Verify the note reference (Item 50243) with your carrier or TMS to confirm applicability and avoid reclass fees for similar materials.
