How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Pack only boxed urinal/toilet deodorant blocks or crystals; exclude plastic dispensers and any wire or plastic hangers to keep the NMFC 57110, Class 60 rating.
- Line cartons with poly bags to capture scented dust and crumbles, then palletize tight with stretch wrap; cap with a top sheet to prevent compression damage.
- Book dispensers or hangers as separate line items under their proper NMFC to avoid inspections, reclass fees, and delivery delays.
- Because of strong fragrance, over-bag pallets or use odor-barrier liners and avoid co-loading with foodstuffs, textiles, or flavor-sensitive products.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
Business Value
- Predictable Class 60 rating streamlines LTL quoting and removes density-based surprises, reducing reweigh and reclass exposure.
- Non-hazardous designation cuts paperwork and hazmat surcharges, opening more carrier options and faster tendering.
- Box-only requirement simplifies unitization and reduces breakage or loss, lowering OS&D claims and improving delivery quality scores.
- Separating hangers/dispensers from the blocks prevents misclassification and chargebacks in janitorial and facility-supply channels.
