How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Rate and tender as NMFC 58695, Class 125, packaging type boxes; palletize master cartons (e.g., 36 retail boxes per case) and note case counts on the BOL.
- Protect integrity: use snug inner cartons, corner boards, and full stretch wrap to prevent crush damage to retail boxes; avoid pallet overhang and top-load with care.
- Maintain product quality: keep away from excessive heat and sunlight during staging and transit; choose services with minimal dwell time for latex-based items.
- Support traceability: print or affix lot and expiration details on outer cases for clinics and retailers; label contents as personal care products and mark Non-Hazardous.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
Business Value
- Predictable pricing: fixed Class 125 removes density calculations and curbs re-rate risks on mixed clinic or retail shipments.
- Lower compliance friction: non-hazardous status avoids hazmat surcharges and simplifies carrier acceptance and paperwork.
- Packaging efficiency: standardized boxed units cube neatly on pallets, improving picks-per-pallet and reducing cost per shipped unit.
- Fewer chargebacks: correct NMFC use streamlines ASN and vendor compliance for healthcare distributors and big-box retail deliveries.
