How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Mark the BOL clearly: NMFC 59440, Class 60, noting boxed mineral or fortified water with no more than 7% dextrose.
- Pack primary bottles or jugs inside double-wall corrugated boxes with dividers or bottle carriers; add a poly liner and absorbent pad to contain leaks.
- Palletize on 40x48 wood pallets with even weight distribution; keep cartons upright, use corner boards, and stretch-wrap with a top sheet.
- Shield from freezing and high heat to prevent swelling or cap failure; schedule transit to avoid thermal swings during winter and summer.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
