NMFC 70340 - Cotton Flocks | Class 55-100

To find the correct freight class for your shipment:

1. Confirm density before booking. Weigh the shipment and measure the palletized cube to calculate lb/ft³ (e.g., 500 lb on a 40x48x48 in pallet ≈ 9.4 pcf). Match the result to the 55–100 class tier per carrier rules.
2. Choose packaging that controls lint and boosts density: compressed bales or heavy-duty, poly-lined bags inside cartons. Add stretch wrap and corner boards, and use anti-static liners to minimize dust.
3. Unitize cleanly on pallets with no overhang. Strap or tape to prevent bulging, add a top sheet to contain fibers, and protect against moisture if transloading is expected.
4. Document clearly on the BOL: “Cotton flocks, NMFC 70340,” list packaging type, total weight, and calculated density. Note non-hazardous material to avoid hazmat screening delays.
