Note 90281: NOTE-Applies on slate blocks, pieces or slabs, boxed or other than boxed, secured and oriented diagonally or vertically on lift truck skids, pallets or platforms or shipping carriers or racks.

To find the correct freight class for your shipment:

1. State the exact form and packaging on the BOL: “Slate blocks/pieces/slabs, NOI — crated” and list pallet count, bundle count, and max piece length.
2. Protect edges and faces: band tightly with corner boards, add foam or cardboard between slabs, and mark Top/Do Not Stack to prevent chipping.
3. Distribute weight evenly on sturdy pallets; use double runners and blocking so forklifts can lift without tipping heavy stone bundles.
