To find the correct freight class for your shipment:

1. Quote using NMFC 98840 at fixed Class 100. Provide piece count, total weight, and note “animal hides, boxed” on the BOL for fast carrier acceptance.
2. Pack hides in heavy-duty corrugated boxes with poly liners and sealed seams to contain moisture and odor. Example: five 75 lb boxes on a 48x40 pallet, 375 lb total.
3. Palletize with no overhang, use moisture barriers or slip sheets, and secure with banding plus stretch wrap. Mark gross weight on each box for safe handling.
4. If hides are salted/wet, ensure no free liquid. Confirm any APHIS/USDA paperwork for cross-border moves and add handling notes like “Do Not Double-Stack” if box strength is limited.
