Note 101731: NOTE-Shipper must certify on shipping orders and bills of lading at time of shipment the actual value per pound of the property or the value group embracing the actual value per pound of the property. If the shipper fails to so certify the actual value, shipment will not be accepted, but if the shipment is inadvertently accepted, charges will initially be assessed on the basis of the class for the highest valuation provided. Upon proof of lower actual value, freight charges will be adjusted accordingly.

To find the correct freight class for your shipment:

1. Pack semisolid ink in rigid corrugated boxes sized to the blocks or cartridges; add a poly liner to prevent transfer and cushion voids with kraft dunnage.
2. Palletize on a 48x40 wood pallet using a tight brick-stack; apply corner boards, two straps, and stretch wrap for unit integrity, keeping loads away from heat.
3. State on the BOL: “NMFC 101730 – Semisolid carbon-paper ink, boxed, nonfluid,” and include carton count and actual weight; no UN/NA hazmat numbers needed.
4. Maintain moderate temperatures in storage and transit so the material stays firm and cartons don’t slump; add “Keep From Heat” or seasonal handling notes when needed.
