| 111370.00 | Liquefiers (Converters), carbon dioxide, cylinder type; or High Pressure Tubes for carbon dioxide storage | 60 |
How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Confirm units are empty, depressurized, and capped; document purge status for cylinder-type converters and high-pressure tubes to maintain non-hazardous handling.
- Secure tubes on cradles or V-blocks with straps; add end protectors and block-to-pallet to prevent rolling during LTL transit.
- For cylinder-type liquefiers, bolt skids to the frame or use banding through lift points; label BOL: “NMFC 111370, Class 60, CO2 Liquefier Cylinders/Tubes.”
- Share handling notes: center of gravity, no-stack if applicable, and valve protection requirements; include photos for carriers when shipping long tubes overhanging pallets.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
Business Value
- Class 60 rating helps reduce LTL freight spend versus higher classes while keeping predictable pricing across lanes.
- Non-hazardous status eliminates hazmat paperwork and accessorials, speeding up pickup, quoting, and claims resolution.
- Simple classification (no density break) lowers reclass risks, protecting margins and avoiding surprise invoices.
- Standardized packaging guidance (cradles, caps, blocking) cuts damage rates on precision CO2 equipment and reduces downtime for beverage, food, and lab operations.
