How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Drain grease reservoirs, purge lines, and cap ports before pickup; wipe down residue and place absorbent pads to prevent leaks in transit.
- Bolt the machine to a skid and block wheels; use non-marring straps, corner protectors, and wrap sensitive stainless surfaces and control panels.
- Remove or brace protruding spray arms, guards, and drip trays; crate small components separately and label them to match the main unit.
- Mark center of gravity and This Side Up; list NMFC 114510, Class 100 on the BOL with model/serial data, and request liftgate service if no dock is available.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
Business Value
- Fixed Class 100 gives predictable LTL quotes and avoids density disputes or reclass fees.
- Non-hazardous status reduces paperwork and broadens carrier options, speeding scheduling.
- Proper skidding/crating protects controls and stainless finishes, cutting claims and downtime.
- Smart disassembly to fit standard pallets lowers oversize surcharges and improves freight rates.
