How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Select the proper NMFC entry: 115100 covers can-style blowers with or without a discharge tube; rate at Class 300 with no density calculation.
- Package for loose or skid handling: band the base to a pallet, cap inlet/outlet and any discharge tube, and pad motors and impellers to resist impact.
- Stabilize the round housing so it cannot roll; use chocks or angle braces, keep it upright, and mark Keep Upright and Do Not Stack clearly.
- Document clearly: list model/serial, note non-hazardous machinery, and include photos of protective measures; dimensions and weight help carriers plan, even though class is fixed.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
Business Value
- Predictable pricing: fixed Class 300 eliminates density disputes and reclass fees for these air-moving assemblies.
- Lower packing costs: NMFC permits shipment loose or on skids, reducing crating time and materials while maintaining critical protection.
- Fewer damage claims by guarding protruding tubes and fan components, protecting uptime and avoiding repair or warranty expenses.
- Simplified negotiations: align rates within the Machinery Group and consolidate multiple blowers onto a single skid to cut handling touches.
