How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Use NMFC 118120 on the BOL and describe as “gasoline pump metering computers,” including model and serial numbers; mark as non-hazardous electronics.
- ESD-protect each unit with antistatic bags, foam-in-place or dense foam corners, then carton and secure to a 40x48 pallet; crate heavier bench consoles with internal blocking.
- Cap connectors and sensor ports, coil harnesses, and shield screens; add “Fragile Electronics” and orientation arrows to minimize shock and tip damage.
- For service-station returns or calibrations, include test reports and RMA paperwork; request appointment or limited-access pickup common at forecourts to avoid delays.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
