How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- List the item as “Concentrating Tables – NMFC 125620, Class 92.5” on the BOL so carriers rate it correctly without density calculations.
- Stabilize the motion assembly: lock the eccentric/cam, tie off the drive arm, and pad the bearings to prevent vibration damage in transit.
- Protect the deck and riffles with a rigid cover (plywood or sheeted crate), foam at contact points, and band the unit to a 4-way entry skid.
- Mark center-of-gravity and lifting points; request non-stack and machinery handling, and use blocking/bracing to keep the base from shifting.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
Business Value
- Predictable costs: fixed Class 92.5 eliminates density disputes and reclass penalties.
- Faster quotes and tenders since carriers recognize it under the Machinery Group entry.
- Lower claim risk when the deck, drive, and bearings are secured per machinery best practices.
- Non-hazardous status streamlines routing and reduces special compliance requirements.
