How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Reference NMFC 125745 on the BOL and cite Note item 125746. Specify unit style (towable drum, skid-mounted, or crated) to ensure the correct rating path.
- Clean the drum/hopper thoroughly. Remove wet asphalt, concrete, or mortar residues, lock paddles, fold or secure chutes, and cap any open ports to prevent spills.
- Prep power systems by draining fuel, disconnecting batteries, and capping hydraulic lines for engine-driven models. For electric units, wrap control panels and connectors with moisture barriers.
- Secure the mixer to a pallet or steel skid using heavy straps and edge protection. Chock wheels and lower/lock the tow bar; note height/CG and request liftgate or flatbed if oversized.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
