How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Verify the product is a spring-power motor and ship each unit in a rigid box; examples include wind-up drives for displays or mechanical timers.
- Immobilize the mainspring and rotor with coil locks or inserts, then fill voids with foam or honeycomb; use double-wall corrugated boxes and orientation labels.
- For multiple units, place individual boxes in a master carton and palletize; keep cartons within the pallet footprint and note stacking limits.
- Reference NMFC 125780 and Class 100 on the BOL; include dimensions and weight for pricing even though the class is not density based.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
