How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Pack each canopy and curtain/windshield set in sturdy double‑wall boxes with flat inserts to prevent creasing of clear vinyl panels.
- Bag fabric components to keep out dust and moisture, and secure hardware kits in a taped inner carton so bolts don’t puncture the cloth.
- Face windshields against corrugated pads with bubble wrap; avoid folding along the viewing area and mark the box “Do Not Crush.”
- Keep dimensions tight to the product footprint; choose a box size that resists crushing yet stays within standard LTL size to avoid oversize fees.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
Business Value
- Item-specific NMFC listing (not density-based) helps avoid surprise reclasses and stabilizes LTL rates for ag dealers and OEMs.
- Boxed packaging aligns with carrier conveyor handling, reducing special handling accessorials and speeding terminal throughput.
- Non-hazardous accessory shipments cut compliance time and eliminate hazmat surcharges, improving landed cost.
- Lower damage and return rates by protecting clear vinyl and fabric edges—fewer claims and better customer satisfaction during planting season peaks.
