How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- List on the BOL as “NMFC 133110 – Farm Tractor Iron Wheels,” and verify scope against Note 133112 when bearings, races, or lubricators are present.
- Palletize heavy iron wheels with hub-facing chocks; run two bands through the hub and across the rim to prevent rolling and lateral shift.
- For single-wheel moves, crate upright with internal bracing; cap the hub, add VCI wrap against rust, and use edge protectors on the rim.
- Label “Do Not Roll” and “Team Lift” where appropriate; provide exact piece count and weight, and confirm if mounted tires require a different NMFC.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
Business Value
- Accurate use of NMFC 133110 reduces reclass fees, dispute risk, and audit delays on LTL invoices.
