How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Pack each annunciator in a rigid corrugated box with anti-static wrap and at least 2 inches of cushioning around circuit boards and lenses.
- Before boxing panel-mounted units, cap terminals and secure faceplates to protect buttons and LEDs; ideal for OEM control panels and fire alarm integrator shipments.
- Palletize upright cartons without overhang, add corner boards, then apply three or more wraps of stretch film and a top sheet to prevent crushing.
- List “Annunciators, in boxes — NMFC 14420, Class 110” on the BOL, note non-hazardous status, and include piece count and serials for RMA tracking.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
Business Value
- Predictable rating: Fixed Class 110 removes density debates, enabling accurate LTL quotes and fewer reclass fees.
- Reduced damage costs: Electronics-focused packaging and ESD protection limit shock and moisture claims.
- Faster tendering: Non-hazmat, boxed freight aligns with standard carrier handling for quicker acceptance.
- Cost-effective consolidation: Multiple small cartons can ship on one pallet without altering class, improving per-unit freight spend.
