How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Prep the trailer-mounted laundry unit: drain water, cap hoses, stow hoses and cords, retract stabilizers, lock the hitch, and confirm batteries are disconnected.
- Book the right equipment: request a flatbed or step-deck with ramps, or a tow-away service. Note “NMFC 148080, Class 100, trailer-mounted outfit” on the BOL.
- Provide specifics to carriers: overall length/height, approximate weight, tire condition, tie-down points, and any VIN/serial for gate access and securement planning.
- Secure for transit: wheel chocks, 4-point straps or chains meeting WLL needs, frame blocking, and protective covers on inlets/outlets to prevent road grime and moisture.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
