How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Choose SU (set up) or SU in sections based on access and storage. Sectional packs fit tight docks and liftgates; fully assembled gates speed event setup.
- Box ground lines and PVC poles in long corrugate with edge guards. Band components inside the box to prevent shifting and scuffing during LTL handling.
- Cushion flower boxes and liverpool trays with foam at corners and rims. Keep cartons flat and mark Do Not Stack if trays could crease under weight.
- Kit gates, blocks, and caps by course set and label piece counts on cartons (e.g., 1 gate, 2 blocks, 2 caps). Mark as Athletic Goods for smoother receiving.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
Business Value
- Fixed Class 85 simplifies quoting and cuts reclass risk when shipped boxed or packaged as described.
- Non-hazardous sporting goods avoid hazmat surcharges and broaden carrier options for show timelines.
- Purposeful cartonization reduces damage on large-format plastics/wood and lowers claim costs.
- Pre-kitted obstacle sets accelerate arena build-outs, reducing crew time and delivery-to-ride intervals.
