How to Determine Your Class

To find the correct freight class for your shipment:

  1. Choose SU (set up) or SU in sections based on access and storage. Sectional packs fit tight docks and liftgates; fully assembled gates speed event setup.
  2. Box ground lines and PVC poles in long corrugate with edge guards. Band components inside the box to prevent shifting and scuffing during LTL handling.
  3. Cushion flower boxes and liverpool trays with foam at corners and rims. Keep cartons flat and mark Do Not Stack if trays could crease under weight.
  4. Kit gates, blocks, and caps by course set and label piece counts on cartons (e.g., 1 gate, 2 blocks, 2 caps). Mark as Athletic Goods for smoother receiving.

Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.

Business Value

  • Fixed Class 85 simplifies quoting and cuts reclass risk when shipped boxed or packaged as described.
  • Non-hazardous sporting goods avoid hazmat surcharges and broaden carrier options for show timelines.
  • Purposeful cartonization reduces damage on large-format plastics/wood and lowers claim costs.
  • Pre-kitted obstacle sets accelerate arena build-outs, reducing crew time and delivery-to-ride intervals.
