NMFC 178000 - Elliptic Vehicle Springs | Class 55

To find the correct freight class for your shipment:

1. Declare NMFC 178000, Class 55 on the BOL and describe as “springs, elliptic or semi-elliptic, vehicle or tractor” with piece count and bundle lengths.
2. Band leaf springs into tight, evenly spaced bundles with edge protectors; place on sturdy skids or pallets with no overhang and add top frame for stacking resistance.
3. Cap sharp spring eyes and wrap protruding hardware or brackets to prevent punctures and carrier rewrap fees; use corrugated between layers to stop metal-on-metal scuffing.
4. For long pieces, use full-length runners and block both ends to avoid shifting; flag shipments over 8 ft to anticipate possible overlength accessorials.
