Note 190271: NOTE-Applies on EBikes or ETrikes with complement of batteries shipped uninstalled in same or separate package, regulated by the U.S. Department of Transportation as a Hazard Class 9, Miscellaneous Hazardous Material, other than Hazardous Waste, as defined in 49 CFR 173.140 and required to bear a notice to that effect on bills of lading and packaging.

To find the correct freight class for your shipment:

1. State packaging clearly: boxed or crated, plus exact external dimensions and weight for each unit to prevent reweigh/reclass charges.
2. Stabilize the bike: remove or secure front wheel, immobilize fork and handlebars, protect rotors and derailleur with foam and caps inside the box or crate.
3. Address power systems: confirm your carrier’s battery policy, isolate the battery per their instructions, and include clear orientation labels such as This Side Up.
4. Choose crates for heavy cargo bikes or accessories like racks and baskets; request liftgate or residential delivery when needed to avoid delays.
