How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Select NMFC 190760 when shipping bicycle frames, motorcycle fairings, handlebars, or tricycle assemblies; it rates at Class 250 regardless of density.
- Box small parts in double‑wall cartons with foam or edge protectors; bag loose hardware and cap sharp threads to prevent carton punctures.
- Crate large or fragile pieces (forks, wheels, body panels) with blocking and stretch wrap; strap the crate to a pallet and mark 4‑way entry.
- On the BOL, list “NMFC 190760, Class 250” and include exact dims and weight; carriers still use them for capacity rules and pricing.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
Business Value
- Predictable Class 250 reduces reclass/reweigh disputes and surprise invoices.
- Damage‑resistant boxing or crating protects thin‑wall tubing and paint, cutting claim costs and keeping customers happy.
- Disassemble to shrink cube—remove wheels, pegs, or mirrors so more fits in boxes, lowering LTL charges at a high class.
- Faster quoting and TMS rating for bike shops, motorsports dealers, event teams, and e‑commerce sellers.
