NMFC 21320 – Balloons, Not Inflated | Class 150

Note 21321: NOTE-For provisions applicable to toy or novelty balloons, see item 84260, 'Games or Toys, NOI.'

To find the correct freight class for your shipment:

1. Confirm fit: non-inflated, non-toy balloons (e.g., promo, scientific, meteorological) with or without parachutes qualify under NMFC 21320; review Note item 21321 for definitions.
2. Package to prevent creasing and puncture: coil membranes loosely, polybag sets, and place parachutes or lines in separate inner bags. Use crush-resistant cartons and add “Do Not Crush” labels.
3. Control environment: keep latex away from heat, UV, and moisture; add desiccant packs. For film/foil balloons, roll on a core or use sleeves to avoid kinks.
4. Bill of Lading tips: list “NMFC 21320, Balloons, not inflated, other than toy, in packages, Class 150.” Do not apply density-based class. Separate any non-qualifying items (e.g., gas cylinders, inflators) under their own NMFC.
