How to Determine Your Class

To find the correct freight class for your shipment:

  1. List NMFC 23410 on the BOL and identify the pieces as clean air benches/cabinets/hoods/tables (not fume hoods). Select boxed or crated packaging per unit size.
  2. For stainless tables and cabinets, wrap with non‑shedding foam and poly, brace doors and drawers, cap corners, and add Tip‑N‑Tell and Do‑Not‑Stack indicators.
  3. Crate heavy or oversized workstations and modular cleanroom pieces; secure the crate to a skid with 4‑way forklift entry and mark upright orientation clearly.
  4. Even though Class 125 is fixed, provide accurate dims and weight for pricing and capacity. Example: 72×30 table in an 80×36×40 in crate at ~325 lb.

Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.

Business Value

  • Predictable Class 125 rating simplifies rate shopping and budgeting—no density calculations or surprise reclasses.
  • Single item covers mixed cleanroom furniture (benches, cabinets, hoods, tables), cutting documentation time and dispute risk.
  • Non‑hazardous status broadens carrier options and speeds tendering while avoiding hazmat accessorials.
  • Proper boxing or crating protects high‑value, sterile surfaces, lowering damage claims and downtime in controlled environments.
