How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Palletize boards flat on 40x48 pallets with no overhang; use slip sheets between layers and a rigid top cap to protect the foil faces.
- Strap twice lengthwise and twice crosswise, adding edge guards so steel or poly straps don’t crush hardboard edges or puncture the foil.
- Keep dry: bag or shrink-wrap the unit, taping edges to limit moisture wicking where the foil doesn’t cover the core.
- Label clearly: “NMFC 24413 – Drill Press Backup Boards, Foil-Faced Hardboard, Class 60,” include piece and pallet count to speed LTL dock checks.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
