How to Determine Your Class

To find the correct freight class for your shipment:

  1. Palletize boards flat on 40x48 pallets with no overhang; use slip sheets between layers and a rigid top cap to protect the foil faces.
  2. Strap twice lengthwise and twice crosswise, adding edge guards so steel or poly straps don’t crush hardboard edges or puncture the foil.
  3. Keep dry: bag or shrink-wrap the unit, taping edges to limit moisture wicking where the foil doesn’t cover the core.
  4. Label clearly: “NMFC 24413 – Drill Press Backup Boards, Foil-Faced Hardboard, Class 60,” include piece and pallet count to speed LTL dock checks.

Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
