How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Package booth panels, frames, and roof sections together; crate or frame‑palletize to protect glazing, signage, and laminate edges.
- Measure overall footprint and height, including roof overhangs, casters, and skids; note piece counts and weights when shipping as multiple packages.
- Remove or secure doors, windows, and electrical kits; cap wires, padlock doors, and mark This Side Up and Fragile to limit vibration damage.
- When feasible, ship modular kiosks disassembled to reduce cube; bundle panels with edge protectors, stretch wrap, and two nylon straps per pallet.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
Business Value
- Accurate NMFC item use avoids reclass fees and surprise rate hikes, speeding up carrier and 3PL quoting.
- Stronger packaging reduces damage claims on high‑value components like glass and electronics, keeping project timelines intact.
- Disassembly and smart bundling cut dimensional weight and accessorials (liftgate, limited access), improving freight rates.
- Clear labels and counts streamline venue or jobsite receiving, reducing handling time and install labor costs.
