How to Determine Your Class
To find the correct freight class for your shipment:
- Ship as a packaged, crated unit on a skid matching the booth footprint; protect glazed panels with foam sheets and corner guards, and avoid pallet overhang.
- Apply two to three polyester straps in both directions and block the base so the steel shell cannot shift; stretch-wrap fully, especially around soundproofing panels.
- Label Do Not Stack and Glass, and add tilt/shock indicators; schedule liftgate and appointment delivery for clinics or audiology labs without a dock.
- On the BOL, describe: “portable audiology examination booth, steel and soundproof, glazed, in packages,” note Class 100, and include piece count and exact dimensions.
Note: All classifications are subject to Item 170. Verify with official NMFC publications for the most current requirements.
Business Value
- Fixed Class 100 rating speeds quotes and eliminates density calculations, reducing reclass disputes and billing surprises.
- Non-hazardous designation broadens carrier availability and avoids hazmat fees, ideal for healthcare and university shipments.
- Purposeful packaging for glazing and acoustic components lowers damage risk, cutting claim exposure and costly reshipments.
- Clear NMFC alignment streamlines procurement for hospitals, hearing clinics, and contractors, enabling predictable budgets and timelines.
